2007-2008 Practice Schedule

Day/Time

Initially, practices will follow our normal schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30pm-8:00pm, starting November 8, 2007. However, the board of directors will be changing the practice schedule within two weeks based on the composition of the team. More details to follow once practice begins on November 8.

Locations

All first-year wrestlers or any wrestler under the age of ten will practice in the Abington Senior High wrestling room (pool balcony level).

All wrestlers ten and over, or those with three or more years experience, will practice in the Abington Jr. High wrestling room.

Wrestler Expectations

Wrestlers are expected to be at practice on time, fingernails cut, and wearing the proper attire (headgear, wrestling shoes, shorts without buttons or rivets, and a T-shirt). NO JEANS! We expect wrestlers to pay attention and be respectful of the coaches and their fellow team members. It is very important that wrestlers vigorously shower with hot water and soap after practice, AS SOON AS THEY GET HOME. Parents need to be vigilant about making sure their children shower immediately after practice.

Parent Expectations

Parents are expected to stay with their child(ren) for the entire practice. If you cannot stay with your child, you must arrange for an adult to be present at all times and you must notify a head coach in advance. THIS IS NOT A BABYSITTING SERVICE. If we notice that any parent repeatedly violates this rule, we will dismiss the wrestler from the team without refund. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE.

Of course, there are many good reasons for you to stay (club liabilities, potential injuries, etc.). However, the best reason is that you will enjoy seeing your child progress throughout the season, and your child will be encouraged by your presence and interest in his activities.

Finally, parents are expected to remain quiet during practice so that the wrestlers can hear the coaches. We do encourage you to meet other parents (you'll be spending lots of time together, especially during tournament season), but just be courteous enough to hold your conversations in the hallways before and after practice. (That goes for cell phone conversations as well.)
